Monash University

Bachelor of Arts (Gender Studies)

Nationally Recognised Higher Education

Gender studies is an exciting interdisciplinary field of inquiry that’s informed by the belief that all social processes and institutions are ‘gendered’. Studies in this area bring innovative theory and research techniques to understanding the ways in which our bodies are sexed, gendered and sexually oriented, how these relate to contemporary and global debates on gender inequality, sexual and reproductive health and rights, and the plurality of sexualities.

You’ll be introduced to a variety of critical models of analysis – feminist and queer – that’ll assist you in developing a range of problem-solving skills. Your transferable professional skills in gender analysis and ethos of gender equality and social justice will be relevant to professional contexts such as non-governmental organisations, industry and community-based organisations, or civil society movements.
