Bachelor of Arts (History)
Nationally Recognised Higher EducationWorkplaces of the future need innovative leaders who can see the bigger picture, with the human-focused and transferable skills you’ll gain in a humanities and social sciences degree.
The Monash Bachelor of Arts gives you flexibility and choice to tailor your degree to suit your interests, as well as our Professional Futures program to give you the skills employers seek and value. And with funded overseas study to expand your international networks and cultural agility, and dedicated teams to help you with work placement and peer mentoring, our Monash Arts degree will set you up with the tools you need for career success.
Why choose history?
History is exciting, inspiring and diverse. Finding out about past peoples and societies opens up a world of fascinating stories and ideas. You’ll learn how history can inform the present and the future based on wise and unwise decisions made in the past. You’ll develop valuable skills in research, writing and forming a well-structured argument.
Our program will expose you to numerous past cultures around the globe and trace how they evolved and interacted to produce the world we live in today. You will develop a unique, critical approach to examining texts, material artefacts and environments as you learn more about and compare between specific civilisations and from different points of view. Major themes include colonialism, health, technology, the environment, conflicts, race, gender, religion, cities and nationalism.
