The primary focus of the Honours course in Science at Swinburne is on research skills with a mix of advanced theory, professional training, research training, and a research project leading to a thesis. Physics units

  • Honours Project B
    This unit aims to develop the ability to undertake original scientific research as part of a research group. The student will identify all important steps that must be completed to reach their overall research goal, undertake background reading and a literature review.
  • Honours Project C
    This unit aims to develop the ability to undertake original scientific research as part of a research group. The student will identify all important steps that must be completed to reach their overall research goal, undertake background reading and a literature review.
  • Physics Honours Lectures
    This unit aims to provide advance knowledge of the underlying principles and concepts in physics and the skills required for undertaking a postgraduate research program.
  • Physics Honours Advanced Lectures
    Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to :
    1. Review, analyse, consolidate and synthesise advanced knowledge to identify and provide solutions to complex problems with intellectual independence.
    2. Display cognitive and technical skills to demonstrate both a broad understanding of physics theoretical concepts along with advanced understanding in specialized physics areas.
    3. Demonstrate initiative, critical thinking and judgement in developing new understanding.
    4. Display communication skills to present a clear and coherent exposition of knowledge and ideas to a variety of audiences.
