Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care
Nationally Recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET)The Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care is a nationally recognised qualification designed to equip learners with essential skills for teacher education.

Entry requirements
Domestic Students
- There are no mandated entry requirements.
There are no formal prerequisites to enrol in this course. However, to ensure you can successfully participate, we recommend the following:
You should:
- Be at least 16 years old (some providers may require 18+ for work placement)
- Have basic English, reading, writing and numeracy skills (around ACSF Level 3)
- Be physically fit and emotionally ready to work with young children
- Be able to commit to a minimum of 160 hours of work placement in a regulated early childhood service
- Be eligible to obtain a Working With Children Check (WWCC) or your state’s equivalent
To study online, you’ll also need:
- A computer or tablet with internet access
- Basic digital skills (e.g. using email, Word, Zoom)
- A safe and quiet space to study
- The ability to work independently, with support from your trainer when needed
