It does not reflect the role of a remedial massage therapist. Practitioners may be self-employed or work within a larger health service.

The Australasia International School (AIS) was previously known as the International School of Beauty Therapy owned by Onyx Developments Pty Ltd . It was established in 1973 in Freemantle, Western Australia. In 2017 Onyx Developments Pty Ltd under new ownership moved to Sydney and was rebranded as Australasia International School (AIS).
