The Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care is a nationally recognised qualification designed to equip learners with essential skills for teacher education.

This course is ideal for individuals seeking to develop foundational knowledge and practical abilities to pursue employment or further study in the community services sector.

Course Duration

Estimated 6–12 months. Self-paced with trainer guidance available throughout.

280 hours

Flexible delivery – study online at your own pace with support from experienced trainers via Moodle and Zoom.

Entry requirements

Domestic Students

  • There are no mandated entry requirements.

While not mandatory, it is also recommended that learners:

  • Are 18 years or older
  • Have sound English skills (minimum ACSF Level 3 or equivalent)
  • Can commit to completing a minimum of 280 hours of work placement in a regulated early childhood service
  • Have basic digital literacy (email, word processing, learning platforms) if studying online
  • Hold or can obtain a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC)
  • Meet health and immunisation requirements as required by the workplace
