Nationally Recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET)The MSL50122 Diploma of Laboratory Technology qualification represents the responsibilities of individuals who utilise a variety of laboratory techniques to perform scientific and technical tests across various industry sectors, employing specialised technical expertise. They execute a broad spectrum of both routine and intricate, specialised tests, which may involve unusual samples and require the use of instrumentation with a wide range of operational variables. These professionals communicate sample requirements to colleagues and may engage with suppliers to resolve issues related to product non-compliance.
They may also provide demonstrations of methods to others and offer training to team members on the proper collection of samples and the reliable performance of basic tests. In addition, they play a role in adapting standard operating procedures (SOPs) and enterprise methods as needed and may participate in scheduling and resource monitoring within their work area. Their work is conducted in accordance with established protocols and is often overseen by laboratory or quality managers, or scientific/medical experts.
