Disability Work - Behaviour Support

This short course reflects the skill requirements for workers wanting to develop the ability to assist people with disability who display behaviours of concern.

This short course is to support those workers who already hold a Certificate III qualification in direct client care or support sectors, or who are existing workers in the field and wish to expand their skills and knowledge in disability behaviour support.

Entry requirements

Domestic Students

  • There are no mandated entry requirements.
  • This skill set is for individuals who hold a qualification at Certificate III level or higher in Community Services, Mental Health, AOD, Disability, Individual Support, Health, or a related field who wish to develop skills in supporting people with a disability requiring positive behaviour support.
  • Students must have 12 months work experience in disability support work prior to commencing the course, as evidenced by a signed resume.
  • A workplace agreement must be entered into, as some assessments are required to be undertaken in the workplace.

It is a community and disability services industry/work requirement for staff to have the following:

  • National Police Check for workers
  • WWWC (Working with Children Check for workers)
  • NDIS Credentials (NDIS Screening)
