Identify, Locate And Protect Underground Services
Nationally Recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET)This unit of competency is based on RIICCM202E Identify, locate and protect underground services when working in the civil construction industry. Damage to our underground infrastructure can be expensive and potentially very dangerous, being able to identify these assets is critical for any organisation involved in excavating in a civil construction environment.
Underground services are those services such as gas, electricity, internet and telephone that are required for modern life. It is a requirement that all attempts are made to locate these services before using worksite equipment that may cut or damage these services. Most states and territories have a Dial Before You Dig style provision that can be used to provide information and plans to assist in identifying where underground service and cables are located.
