Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry
Nationally Recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET)In Australia, you must obtain a white card before you can work on any construction site. This card is acquired through a construction induction course that teaches you about the rules and regulations in Australia and the specific state you are in.
You must complete the white card course in the state where you reside, but once you have the card, you can use it throughout Australia. You do not need to retake the course if you move to a different state.
The white card is not only for construction workers; it also covers delivery drivers, engineers, office workers, and others who enter construction sites. This includes people involved in bush regeneration, security guards, and event management workers, ensuring they understand safety rules and regulations.
There is only one type of white card, regardless of whether you have ten years of experience in construction or no experience at all. Everyone attends the same course. Once you obtain the white card, it never expires, and you do not need to redo it unless you have not worked on a construction site for two years straight. In that case, you need to retake the white card course as a refresher.
