Library Assistant

A Library Assistant works in a public library to process loans to borrowers. You’ll also check items back into the library system and return them to shelves. A Library Assistant, or Library Officer, might help customers find books or other items and ensure cataloguing systems are maintained. You may also prepare special displays and take part in library events such as story time sessions.

Library Assistants should be passionate about books and have a strong knowledge of the items available to borrow. You should understand library systems and be able to work with correct procedures. Library Assistants need to have strong customer service skills and be able to work with a range of customers. It’s important that you can communicate well and work as part of a larger team.
