Shotfirer

A Shotfirer uses explosives to break up ground at a mine site, quarry or demolition area. You’ll place explosives in key positions and use detonators to set them off safely. Shotfirers follow plans for explosive work and ensure teams are following correct safety procedures. You may be involved with preparation work or be part of the detonation team.

Shotfirers must be able to follow correct procedures and have a strong focus on safety. It’s important you can communicate clearly and work as part of a larger team. Shotfirers often work a range of shifts including nights and weekends. Depending on the location of your work site, you may have to travel or work away from home.
