Apply Initial Response First Aid
Nationally Recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET)This course provides participants with the skills and knowledge to respond effectively to workplace emergencies and deliver initial first aid until professional medical assistance arrives. Designed for workers in the coal and metalliferous mining industries, it covers the practical skills and knowledge required to administer first aid in a range of emergency situations.
Participants will learn how to assess a casualty’s vital signs and physical condition, manage and monitor their condition, and provide essential care while awaiting medical assistance. The course includes the implementation of appropriate hygiene measures and the application of first aid procedures for common workplace injuries, including non-life-threatening bleeding, burns, sprains, strains, and envenomation (snake or spider bites).
