Certificate II in Salon Assistant
Nationally Recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET)Looking to start a career in the exciting world of hairdressing? The Certificate II in Salon Assistant is the perfect qualification to start.
This preparatory course is designed to provide students with a range of basic skills and knowledge used in hairdressing salons. Participants will learn how to assist with client services by completing routine tasks under the direct supervision and guidance of hairdressers who manage the client service.
While this qualification does not provide a job outcome as a hairdresser, it will prepare graduates for some salon-based roles and/or further training and education in the industry.

Entry requirements
Domestic Students
- There are no mandated entry requirements.
- Complete a Basic Key Skills Builder (BKSB)an online test to ensure the required literacy & numeracy levels for the course are met.
- Undertake a Pre-training review interview to ensure the course suits their needs and aspirations, and that they are likely to complete the course successfully.
- GOTAFE recommends students complete their Certificate II in Salon Assistant before undertaking their Certificate III in Hairdressing /Barbering.
- Prospective VDSS students are required to apply through their School's VET Coordinator or Careers Advisor.
