Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis
Nationally Recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET)AUR40216 Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis provides you with the opportunity to start your career in the automotive industry. In addition to providing you with a variety of employment opportunities in the field of automotive diagnostics, handling, repairs, and maintenance, it is intended to help you get established in that field.
This program will also provide you with the skill set necessary to progress in the field of Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis. This includes the ability to diagnose, repair, and troubleshoot automobile systems. You will also have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience working on real-life automobiles. This will give you the knowledge and experience needed to become successful in the field. Additionally, the program will help you develop the interpersonal skills necessary to build a successful career in automotive diagnostics.

Entry requirements
Domestic Students
- There are no mandated entry requirements.
Those undertaking the certificate IV in automotive mechanical diagnosis must have completed an automotive mechanical certificate lll qualification, or be able to demonstrate equivalent competency.
- Students must be a minimum of 18 years of age, or turning 18 years of age prior to commencement of their study.
- Students require a completed Year 12 or equivalent; or Non school-leavers are selected according to eligibility and merit,vocational experience, previous study, LLN level and personal competencies.
If a student’s first language is not English, they must satisfy one of the following English language proficiency requirements:
- Student’s must have English proficiency as guided by New England College English Proficiency Policy and Procedure.
- IELTS Test – overall score of 6.0 (or equivalent) with no individual section score less than 5.5.
- Pre-entry Oxford English online test result of no less than B2.2 with a minimum score of 71.
NOTE: All applicants from AL3 countries must sit an IELTS test.
