Units
- Organisational Development and Change MMH707
- MPT712/MPM712 Managing Innovation ^
- MPR779/MPM779 Leadership in Complexity
- Foundations in Leadership MPM780
This unit focuses on the management of dynamic change within organizations by utilizing a strategic lens and focusing on a number of critical real-world Organization Development (OD) and Change Management (CM) topics. Drawing extensively from OD and CM literature, the unit introduces a range of models, tools, and methodologies that can be applied immediately within participants’ organizations, to facilitate the successful implementation of change initiatives. The critical and strategic role of human resource management in managing the often overlooked ‘people’ side of OD and CM is also explored in detail throughout the unit.
In this unit students visit an innovative ecosystem (such as Silicon Valley in the USA or Chilcon Valley in Chile) and spend 10 days visiting key organizations in the chosen entrepreneurial hub in order to learn more about managing innovation.
This is an intensive experiential program designed to capitalize on principles of adult learning. Students participate in a series of interactions designed to reproduce the dynamics of communication within organizations as well as communication between the organization and its environment.
The purpose of the unit is to deliver a thorough grounding in the main leadership theories, concepts, and issues. It is intended as an introduction to leadership and will be the theoretical foundation upon which other leadership units are built. Through online videos and readings and interactive seminars, students will be encouraged to engage with, and critique, leadership theories and consider how these might be applied to their own circumstances.
