This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty. The unit applies to all workers who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

The first aid course is fully accredited nationally recognised training. This qualification can be used in all States and Territories throughout Australia.

This course runs over 2 weeks, blended/face-to-face (ONLY 5 days face-to-face), with some learning required to be completed online before course commencement. It equips new entrants with the knowledge and skills to join the ACT security industry.

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to perform CPR in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.

The SafeWork Australia model Code of Practice and the ARC recommend that first aid skills (HLTAID011/HLTAID012/HLTAID014) are renewed every three (3) years, and resuscitation skills (HLTAID009/HLTAID015) are renewed every 12 months.

This unit applies to all persons who may be required to provide CPR, in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

You are required to perform CPR on the floor for at least 2 minutes using a manikin. Partnering with another student to complete the practical exercises may also be necessary.
