About Mayfield Education

The Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance is a nationally accredited course to the Vocation Education Training (VET) delivered to secondary students (VETDSS) which will enable students to develop the skills and knowledge to work in a variety of healthcare environments as an Allied Health Assistant. It is a VETDSS course, which enables you to complete your VCE with a qualification that can gain you employment.

After completing this qualification, you will be able to provide assistance to allied health professionals under predetermined guidelines. Depending on the setting, work may include following treatment plans for therapeutic interventions and/or conducting programs under the regular direct, indirect or remote supervision of an allied health professional in areas such as aged care, disability and other health sectors.

This nationally recognised qualification is an open entry for those individuals working as developing and emerging leaders and managers in a range of enterprise and industry contexts. Individuals at this level:

• are likely to provide leadership, guidance and support to others
• have some responsibility for organising and monitoring the output of teams
• apply solutions to a defined range of predictable and unpredictable problems and
• Students who succeed in this course place themselves in a good position to lead within their current roles and departments and to be placed for consideration for higher responsibilities and the rewards that come with this.

This qualification reflects the role of entry level community services workers who support individuals through the provision of person-centred services. Work may include day-to-day support of individuals in community settings or support the implementation of specific community-based programs.

Mayfield offers the HLT33115 Certificate III in Health Services, a nationally recognised accredited course to the Vocation Education Training (VET) delivered to secondary students (VETDSS). This qualification will train students to provide assistance to healthcare professionals with patient/client care.

During this course, the student will gain knowledge and skills for transporting patients, preparing, and maintaining beds, infection control prevention, basic medical terminology, and workplace health and safety. This course will teach you how to support the care needs of clients in a range of settings and be trained to work effectively and compassionately with a broad spectrum of clients from all walks of life.

The Diploma of Nursing at Mayfield Education is a nationally recognised qualification approved by Australian Nursing & Midwifery Council (ANMAC) and Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA). The qualification has been developed in consultation with leading industry partners. It prepares students with the essential knowledge and skills that can lead to enrolled nursing registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA).

By successfully completing a Diploma of Nursing qualification with Mayfield Education you can gain the skills and knowledge required to provide nursing care for people across the health sector and at all stages of life. To achieve this qualification the student is required to complete mandatory 400 hours of professional experience placement across variety of health care settings.

This training will equip you with the skills and knowledge to ensure you are compliant with the requirements of Australian Standards and provides safe, effective, and efficient sterilising services.  Upon completion of the course, you will become a Sterilisation Technician and be thoroughly familiar with the concepts of microbiology, infection control, sterilising theory, and practices. You will gain an understanding of the principles and practice of sterilisation in a health workplace.

You will develop a comprehensive understanding of your role in workplace effectiveness including your ethical, legal and financial responsibilities as an employee.

This qualification will lead you to become a pathology collector in a public or private healthcare sector. You will learn technical skills, communication skills, customer services and routine procedures as a pathology collector.

Our individual support course will give you the knowledge and essential skills needed to care for and support older people and people with disability that are unable to care for themselves.

The aim of this course is to prepare the student entering the healthcare industry to safely and effectively work with people who need assistance in the community and residential aged care facilities.

The skills gained through this qualification enables care workers to follow an individualised care plan and provide person centred care and support.

This course is ideal for all persons who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

This course is also available for those undertaking an update or for members of the public who have not undertaken this training previously.

This course is for people who are aiming to work in the operating theatre as a technician and/or are already working in this area and would like to upskill and/or undertake leadership roles to become senior theatre technician. Operating theatre technician prepare and maintain operating theatres, equipment and assist surgical and anaesthetic teams during operations.

The student will learn practical skills including transporting patients, preparing, and maintaining beds, infection control prevention, basic medical terminology, and workplace healthy and safety. This course will teach you how to support the care needs of clients in a range of settings and be trained to work effectively and compassionately with a broad spectrum of the client from all walks of life.

Our course will help you be better equipped to manage the core elements in a sterilisation department, including implementing infection prevention and control, cleaning and disinfecting reusable medical devices, managing sterile stock, and monitoring the equipment and quality of the cleaning, sterilisation and packaging processes and leadership skills.

This course is ideal for all persons who may be required to provide a CPR in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

This course is also available for those undertaking an update or for members of the public who have not undertaken this training previously.

Learn the skills and knowledge required to administer and monitor medicine and intravenous (IV) therapy, including calculating dosage requirements, reading and applying written instructions from an authorised prescriber, assessing the person for medicine effectiveness and side effects, and responding to an allergic pharmacological reaction.

This unit relates to enrolled nursing work carried out in consultation and collaboration with registered nurses and under supervisory arrangements aligned to the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) regulatory authority legislative requirements.

This course reflects the role of allied health assistants who provide assistance to allied health professionals under guidelines.

Allied Health Assistants work under the delegation and supervision (direct, indirect or remote in accordance with the allied health assistant’s scope of practice) of Allied Health Professionals and assist in identifying circumstances and risks and reporting issues.

You’ll learn how to interpret abbreviations, spell and pronounce medical terminology correctly, and use appropriate medical terminology in oral and written communication with patients, fellow workers and health professionals.

This unit will provide the participants with the skills and knowledge required to assist with basic foot care, including skin and nail care and applying dressings, padding and cushioning under the direct, indirect or remote supervision of a registered podiatrist.
