It is an ideal online course for those who have experience volunteering or working in community services and want to start working in mental health.
The CHC43315 Certificate IV in Mental Health Online looks at the link between mental health issues and alcohol and other drugs, as well as looking at mental health in the community and in the work place. You will learn the principles of recovery-orientated practice, communication techniques to build and maintain relationships, and you will learn how to support people with co-existing mental health and alcohol and other drug issues.
This online course reflects the role of workers who provide self-directed recovery orientated support for people affected by mental illness and psychiatric disability. The online course will involve implementing community based programs and activities focusing on mental health, mental illness and psychiatric disability.
The requirements for this qualification includes a minimum of 80 hours of work placement to achieve the course outcomes. If a learner is currently working in the industry some sign-off against the work placement hours will be accepted from their workplace. For learners who do not currently have a suitable workplace, Hader Institute of Education will assist the learner to find a suitable facility. The learner will utilise a work placement log book to record their hours of work placement. The learner is required to sign a confidentiality agreement with the facility.

You will learn how to offer support to people from varied backgrounds and how to assist those who may have mental health, alcohol and drug issues. There will be advice on skills and techniques which you can implement to promote recovery and well-being. You will further develop your skills on health and safety and decision making.
This online qualification reflects the role of workers who provide services to clients in relation to mental health issues. They can provide working with diverse people, collaboration, recovery orientated approaches, advocacy and education/health promotion services. These workers are required to have high level specialist knowledge, skills and competencies especially in regard to laws affecting people with mental health issues, the range of services available to them and health issues related to mental health.
