What is Jobs and Skills funding?
Jobs and Skills WA is the funding program in Western Australia for Vocational Education and Training (VET). Students can enrol in a range of training options including apprenticeships, traineeships, and industry qualifications as well as foundation and equity courses.
Eligible students can enrol in subsidised training from the Priority Industry Qualifications List (PIQL) which is designed to prepare students for skilled occupations that are in high demand across Western Australia. Qualifications range from Certificate II through to Certificate IV. This list is updated every year and covers a range of industries including tourism and hospitality, civil construction, dental assisting, commercial cookery, aged care, engineering, agriculture, cyber security, and more.
Many other important industry qualifications that fall outside of the Priority Industry Qualifications List are also subsidised under the general industry training category. This type of subsidy covers a broad range of training from Certificate II through to Advanced Diploma qualifications.
You may be eligible for subsidised training if you live in WA, have left school and are an Australian citizen, a permanent visa holder or a dependent or spouse of the primary holder of a visa. Additional concessions apply to students who meet eligibility requirements such as being 15 - 24 years of age.
